You will need "Full Access" permissions to create your own PDF templates.
NOTE: This article is designed to walk you through how you can create your own fillable PDF template. If you would like us to create a custom fillable PDF for you, please reach out to your Account Manager for more information.
A "Fillable PDF Template" is a PDF that gets auto-filled as a registrant goes through a registration on your website. These PDFs are mapped to your registration, so you can print off a hard paper copy after registration is over if you need to.
This feature requires Adobe InDesign and Acrobat (with files saved as Interactive PDFs).
Step 1: Building a Fillable PDF Template in InDesign and Acrobat
We strongly recommend building your Fillable PDF Template with Adobe InDesign and Adobe Acrobat. A useful article on how this can be performed can be found here.
Adobe’s own documentation available for creating Fillable PDF Forms in Acrobat can be found here.
Note the following:
Field Names must precisely match the Template Variables and are case-sensitive.
The only form field types that will be respected are the following: Text Field, Checkbox Field, Button, and Barcode Field Type.
Text size specification and font will be respected, but fonts must be from among the 14 base fonts, which include Times-Roman, Times-Italic, Times-Bold, Times-BoldItalic, Helvetica, Helvetica-Oblique, Helvetica-Bold, Helvetica-BoldOblique, Courier, Courier-Oblique, Courier-Bold, Courier-BoldOblique, and Symbol.
Images require a field type of Button and must be in .jpeg or .png format.
Generating a QR Code (a scannable, square bar code) requires the use of a Barcode Field Type with Options tab > Symbology: QR Code.
