Applicants must immediately verify their bank account upon applying for payment processing, adding new bank accounts, and switching to a new default bank account. The verification process is automated and connects with banking data. Sometimes, this automated process is incomplete and requires additional documentation from your organization.
When additional documentation is needed, the primary financial contact receives instructions on uploading the necessary details in the Financial Settings in SportsEngine HQ.
Verification by business type
For Individuals: Bank accounts must be registered under the business owner's name entered during the initial application process.
For Sole Proprietorships or Partnerships: Bank accounts must be registered under their Doing Business As (DBA) name, the company’s legal business name, or a representative name input during the initial application process.
For LLCs (US only), Corporations, Non-profits, or Registered Charities (Canada only): Bank accounts must be registered under your Doing Business As (DBA) name or the company's legal business name input during the initial application process.
Acceptable verification document types
When automated verification is not successful, you will be alerted to submit one of the following documents:
A bank account statement
A letter on bank letterhead that contains the required information
A voided check - you must write "VOID" on the check
Acceptable document format
Valid and not expired
Clear and large enough to read
Uploaded in full color (no black-and-white scans)
Complete and not cropped
Color scans in .pdf format or photographs in .jpeg or .png format
Screenshots of your banking app
Photocopies of documents are not acceptable.
