How to Change Your Website Background Image

You must have "Full Access" or "Limited Access - Website" permissions to edit your site.

Your website "Background Image" is displayed behind your website's main content.

You can choose a "SportsEngine Background" or a solid color as a background if you don't want to use your own image.

Step 1: Go to Theme Settings

  1. Sign in and click on the HQ Home icon at the top of your screen.

  2. Click on the Website tab and choose Website Settings.

  3. Choose the Theme Settings tab.

Step 2: Update Your Background Image

Choose either the Background tab or the SportsEngine Background tab for this step.

  • Background tab: If you want to add your own background image.

  • SportsEngine Background tab: If you want to choose from a template image.

Choosing Your Own Background

  1. Click Add Background Graphic, then set up the settings of the graphic.

    • In-depth background setting descriptions can be found at the end of this article.

  2. Choose the file from your computer and click Create This Background Graphic.

Choosing a SportsEngine Background

  1. Scroll down until you find a background you would like to use.

  2. In the top-right corner, click the gray gear, then choose Copy.

  3. Click on the Background sub-tab.

  4. Scroll down until you see the background you just copied under the Inactive section.

    • Refresh your page if you don't see the background you copied.

  5. In the top-right corner, click the gray gear, then choose Edit.

  6. Set up the settings of the graphic.

  7. Click Save Background Graphic.

Background Image Settings

  • Active: You must check this to use the background image.

  • Site Default: Make the image your site's primary background (only one site default allowed per website).

  • Title: A name to identify the background image.

  • Description: A description to identify the background image.

  • Background Color: The solid color that will display on the sides of or in place of a background image.

  • Position: The position on the website page where the image appears.

  • Repeat: Determines if the background image is repeated vertically or horizontally (not recommended).

  • Attachment: Determines if the background image stays in the window if a visitor scrolls.

  • Background Graphic: The image to be placed in the background.

  • Section: Select a section to only show a background image on specific pages (not necessary if site default is set).
