How to Update My Website Domain NameServer (DNS) or CNAME Records
Updated over a week ago

NOTE: Your site may take up to 48 hours to appear on your domain after changing name servers. This delay, during which your site is propagating, is standard for all sites.

NOTE: After changing your DNS or CNAME Records, you must contact support with your new domain so that we can update it within our system.

To move your SportsEngine website from the SportsEngine domain (YourOrganization.sportngin.com) to your organization's custom domain (YourOrganization.com), you must update your DNS records.

This process is called Going Live.

Helpful Tip! Before updating DNS records, you must tell your contact if you have email addresses associated with your custom domain (i.e., [email protected]). Failing to do so will result in an interruption of email service.

Changing CNAME and A Records

If you would rather maintain control of the Name Servers for your domain, you may update the CNAME records for the root (@) and www to point to SportsEngine.

Helpful Tip! If you run into any problems finding or updating the CNAME and A records, please reach out to the domain registrar directly.

Use the chart below to complete the following:

  1. Find your third-party provider and use the login link to access your system.

  2. Use the CNAME Instructions Link to figure out where to update the CNAME and A records.

  3. Remove any existing CNAME or A records.

  4. Add the new CNAME. Ensure that you use your custom domain name in place of "YourDomain".

  5. Add the new A records. You must enter both A Records listed below. Ensure that when entering the A record, the hostname (sometimes referred to as "Name") uses your custom domain name in place of "YourDomain," and the IP Address is added as the "Value."
