What is the Scheduling Assistant?
The Scheduling Assistant is a workspace for managing venues, time slots, scheduling rules, games, and Autoschedule settings for a season.
Why can't I run Autoschedule?
Autoschedule requires games, available venues, and available time slots.
If one of these items is missing, complete the required setup before running Autoschedule.
Do I need to use the Setup Guide?
The Setup Guide is optional and designed to help administrators configure scheduling requirements. It is especially helpful when creating a schedule for the first time.
Can I launch the Guide at any time?
Yes. The Guide can be opened from the Scheduling Assistant at any time. To open the guide, access the Scheduling Assistant and click the three-dot icon > Open guide.
Do I need to complete every section of the Guide?
No. If data already exists for a section, it can still be used by the Scheduling Assistant and Autoschedule.
If I generate games in the Guide, are they saved?
Yes. Generating games from the Guide creates games for the season immediately. These games become part of your schedule inventory and can be viewed, edited, imported against, and used by Auto Schedule.
If I close the Guide, will my changes be lost?
No. Changes made within the Guide are saved as they are completed. Closing the Guide does not remove the created venues, time slots, rules, or games from previous steps.
Can I auto-schedule games that were imported or created manually?
Yes. Games do not need to be generated through the Guide. Imported and manually created games can be scheduled using Auto Schedule.
What happens if I change venues or scheduling rules after scheduling?
Changes made after scheduling do not automatically reschedule existing games. Run Autoschedule again or make manual adjustments as needed.
What are scheduling rules?
Scheduling rules are specifications made using the scheduling assistant to ensure games meet the necessary criteria. Types of rules include:
Game length
Minimum time between time slots
Maximum games per day
Minimum time between games
Blackout dates
Venue Restrictions
Game restrictions
For more on each of the individual rule types, click here.
Can I edit my games after auto-scheduling?
Yes! If games have been auto-scheduled, you may manually adjust the schedule by editing game dates, times, and venues, or deleting games. Open time slots are displayed in the scheduling assistant to make editing games manually easy.
Can I create elimination rules in my schedule?
The scheduling assistant is equipped to schedule pool play and does not support single or double-elimination bracket creation.
Why is there a warning icon by my game/event?
A warning icon indicates a scheduling conflict with that game or event. Scheduling conflicts include double bookings within the same or different seasons and failure to adhere to the applied scheduling rules. Hovering over the warning icon or clicking View conflict details will display the conflict information.
I cannot see the games I've scheduled on the calendar.
To find your scheduled games quickly, use the Quick Filters at the top of the calendar view to narrow your search by Division, Venue, and Date. For more detailed filter choices, use the filter icon in the upper right of the calendar view to apply custom date ranges, game statues, and teams to search for.
How can I ensure that each division has an equal number of scheduled games?
Use the Schedule Summary to show the total number of games per division to review the number of games. Games are shown by team name and separated by Home or Away statuses. From the Schedule page, click the three-dot icon, then Schedule Summary to view.
