SportsEngine

Go Live: Update Website Domain NameServer (DNS) or CNAME Records

When you first get a new SportsEngine website, it will be hosted on the SportsEngine domain name (ex: yourOrganization.sportngin.com). In order to move the website from SportsEngine's domain to your organization's domain (ex: yourOrganization.com), you will need to change your domain name's DNS (Domain NameServer) records. We call this Going Live with your website.

Important! If you have email services associated with the domain that you are updating (ex: jane@yourOrganization.com) please tell your SportsEngine SportsEngine Account Rep/Onboarding Coach prior to going through these steps. Updating DNS records may interrupt your email service.

Changing Domain NameServers (DNS)

You will need to update your Domain NameServers through the third-party provider that you registered your domain with. Most domains are registered through GoDaddy, Network Solutions, Yahoo, 1&1, Tuscows, or Bluehost. If you have difficulties updating your DNS, please use the third-party 's support channels (listed below) for assistance; they are more familiar with their software and will be better suited to assist you.

Step 1: Login to your account with your third-party domain registrar (ex: GoDaddy.com)
Step 2: Locate where to change Domain NameServers using third-party instructions and help channels
Step 3: Add the 5 nameservers found below and pasting each to your third-party domain registrar as Custom Nameservers

SportsEngine's has 5 nameservers (you will copy and paste each of these individually):

ns1.sportnginserver.com
ns2.sportnginserver.com
ns3.sportnginserver.com
ns4.sportnginserver.com
ns5.sportnginserver.com

Pro Tip: Use your domain registrar's instructions and support channels for additional DNS assistance

Changing CNAME Records

Important! Skip this section if you successfully changed the DNS records to go live

If you wish to continue to maintain control of the nameservers for your domain, you can update the CNAME records for the root (@) and www to point to SportsEngine instead of changing the DNS Records. Please use the third-party's support channels if you have trouble with the steps below; they are more familiar with their software and better suited to assist you.

Step 1: Login to your third-party domain registrar (ex: GoDaddy.com)
Step 2:
Locate where to change CNAME Records using third-party instructions and help channels
Step 3: Remove any existing A or CNAME Records for your domain
Step 4: Add the following 2 CNAME records:

YourDomain.com should point to sites.sportngin.com
www.YourDomain.com should point to sites.sportngin.com

Important! Replace "YourDomain.com" with the actual name of your domain
